Week 1, Day 6 Devotional — Saturday, December 6, 2025

Theme: Light to the Nations

Christ, the Light of the World, breaks every darkness and brings hope, clarity, and salvation. His light shines for you—and for all nations.

Day’s Reading: Isaiah 9:2

Key Scriptures

Introduction

Isaiah saw a day when people walking in deep spiritual darkness would see a great light—a light not kindled by human fire but sent by God Himself:

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light…” (Isaiah 9:2)

Centuries later, Jesus began His public ministry in Galilee, fulfilling this prophecy: “The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light.” (Matthew 4:16)

And then He declared, “I am the light of the world.” (John 8:12)

Insight

Darkness in Scripture represents ignorance of God, confusion, despair, and sin. Light represents revelation, salvation, guidance, and God's presence. When Jesus declared Himself the Light of the World, He announced that God's saving presence had arrived.

Fleming Rutledge writes, “Light is not merely a metaphor. In Christ, God invades the world’s darkness with a power that exposes, heals, and transforms.”¹

Christopher Wright adds, “The mission of God to the nations shines through the Servant, whose light reaches the ends of the earth.”²

Jesus does not merely bring light—He is light.

Reflection

- Where do you see darkness trying to overshadow your life?

- How does Christ’s light bring clarity, hope, and direction?

- How can you reflect His light to others today?

Strategic Prayer Points

1. Thank God for sending Jesus as the Light of the World.

2. Pray for Christ’s light to break into areas of personal confusion or struggle.

3. Intercede for the nations, asking that Christ’s light be revealed where darkness is strong.

My Faith Confession

Jesus, You are my Light and my salvation. Your presence drives out darkness. I walk in Your truth and shine with Your love.

Final Prayer

Lord, thank You for shining Your great light into my life. Drive out every shadow and illuminate my path. Make me a beacon of Your love, truth, and hope. May Your light shine through me to the nations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
