Theme: The Prophet Like Moses
Jesus, the Prophet like Moses, leads us with divine authority and speaks God’s heart—revealing truth, bringing freedom, and guiding us home.
Day’s Reading: Deuteronomy 18:15
Key Scriptures
Introduction
On the edge of the Promised Land, Moses gave his final words to Israel. Among them was a striking prophecy:
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.” (Deuteronomy 18:15)
This was not about a leadership succession plan—it was a Messianic promise. The coming Prophet would be like Moses: a deliverer, a mediator, and one who spoke with God face to face.
Generations later, after Jesus fed the multitudes with bread in the wilderness, the crowd exclaimed:
“This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world!” (John 6:14)
The echoes of Moses were unmistakable—and now fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
Insight
Moses was more than Israel’s lawgiver—he was a covenant mediator, miracle worker, and the friend of God. In calling the Messiah “a Prophet like Moses,” Scripture links the expected Redeemer to one who would lead with divine authority and unmatched intimacy with the Father.
Peter affirmed this in his sermon at Solomon’s Portico, declaring that Jesus was the fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy (Acts 3:22). Just as Moses delivered Israel from Egypt through signs and wonders, Jesus delivers humanity from sin through a greater exodus—through the cross and resurrection.
As Christopher Wright notes, “Jesus is not merely a new Moses. He is the true and final prophet who embodies the Word and presence of God Himself.”¹ He not only speaks for God—He is the Word made flesh.
Reflection
- How is Jesus speaking into your life today—as the final Prophet and the living Word?
- What old “Egypts” has He delivered you from, and what promised lands is He leading you into?
- Are you listening to His voice—and obeying what He reveals?
Strategic Prayer Points
1. Thank God for sending Jesus, the true Prophet, to reveal His heart and will.
2. Pray for spiritual ears to hear and obey Jesus' words in every area of your life.
3. Intercede for those who are spiritually deaf—that the veil would be removed and Christ revealed.
My Faith Confession
Jesus, You are the Prophet promised long ago. You speak not just words, but life. I receive Your voice, follow Your lead, and trust in Your greater deliverance.
Final Prayer
Lord, open my ears to hear Your voice. Thank You for sending Jesus, the Prophet like Moses, to lead us into truth and liberty. Let my heart respond with obedience and awe. Help me walk in the freedom and purpose You have prepared. In Jesus' name, Amen.
